Project Narrative

Rufus Mayfield is a 46-unit development consisting of duplexes. The development was part of a planned demolition of an existing 72-unit development, originally built in 1948. Two new developments were constructed prior to the demolition of the existing housing.

Rufus Mayfield was awarded an allocation of tax credits in 2011. The mixed-financed plan included leveraging investor equity from Hudson Capital, with Section 901 Funds awarded to the Lake Charles Housing Authority from HUD. The development was designed as a duplex community that reflects the “craftsman” style architecture of the surrounding neighborhood.
